With the reveal of the 2012 CMA Awards nominees just days away, the Eli Young Band guys — like many country artists — are wondering if they will hear their name called in any categories. Having just celebrated their second chart-topping hit, ‘Even if It Breaks Your Heart,’ the band members joke that they will any nominations that come their way.

“We’re so happy that we’re having the success these days,” frontman Mike Eli tells Taste of Country. “To have another nomination would be incredible. Like we’ve said many times before, being a band for as long as we have, we really feel like after all these years we really appreciate [it all] — no matter how big or small the accolade. It’s always an incredible feeling, knowing that we’re still accomplishing things as a band, musically and career-wise.”

EYB were able to pick up a Song of the Year trophy during this year’s ACM Awards for their first chart-topping hit, ‘Crazy Girl.’ The accolade highlighted the tune’s two writers, Lee Brice and Liz Rose. If EYB’s Jon Jones has any say in the situation, he would like repeat of that same feeling at the 2012 CMAs for ‘Even if It Breaks Your Heart.’

“I think anything related to ['Even if It Breaks Your Heart'] would be great, just to involve the songwriters,” says Jones. “I think this is a song that everybody in this music community can really get behind and understand. It’s everybody’s story. I think this song has had a great chance for everybody to hear it. It would be fun if it had the chance or something.”

“‘Crazy Girl’ was such a huge song for us and it brought us into this whole new level of all this,” adds drummer Chris Thompson. “I think there might have been a bit of fear… What’s the next step? Is there more after this? To be on the verge of potentially being nominated for a new song (‘Even if It Breaks Your Heart’) is exciting.”

Eli Young Band will have to wait just a couple more weeks to find out if they have in fact scored any nods for the 2012 CMAs. The nominees will be revealed by Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum on ‘Good Morning America’ on Sept. 5.
