Crossroads let's ditch new year resolutions!

It turns out New Year Resolutions are like those pretty plants you buy with the best intentions but forget to water them weeks later!

In fact, did you know most people have dropped the ball on their resolution by mid February?

Yep- six weeks max is the longest most of us keep our resolutions!

Well that's not helpful or healthy ( sad plants are no fun) so let’s talk about something simple, fun, and surprisingly effective: choosing a Word of the Year.

A Word of the Year is like a tiny mantra that sets the tone for your 2025!

It’s your North Star, your rallying cry, your personal cheerleader all rolled into one!

And speaking of North Star... if you are serious about your word of the year, or your resolution, let us know about it. We've got something planned at the station that just happens to be located at 107 NORTH STAR DRIVE! I always say " Just follow the North Star!"

Studies suggest that when you focus on a single intention, like a word, you’re more likely to stick with it because it’s not about specific outcomes. It’s about a mindset shift. No pressure to hit the gym at 5 a.m. or learn Mandarin in six weeks (unless your word is “ambitious,” then good luck!).

Let’s say your word is “joy.” It nudges you to say yes to spontaneous dance parties, no to cleaning instead of playing board games with your kids, and heck yes to extra sprinkles on your ice cream!

Or maybe it’s “balance,” so you’ll finally stop answering work emails at 10 p.m. (Seriously, stop that).

Sticking to your word often helps you feel  more focused, fulfilled, and- happier! Think about it, you are keeping your word!

Keeping your "word" to yourself is critical to positive self love!

It’s easier to keep a word alive than a list of resolutions, it doesn’t demand you to be perfect and it’s a gentle reminder to you of what matters most.

So, ditch the guilt of broken promises and pick a word that inspires you. Who needs a to-do list when you have a Word of the Year?

And check this out... you are welcome to share your Word of the Year with us on our station apps and Facebook. We are going to pick a few of you and band with you to help you make your 2025 word of the year or even your new year resolution if you choose part of your best YEAR YET!
