Last night, the Victoria Public Health Department issued a press release announcing vaccines have arrived and starting today, Wednesday January 20, Victoria county residents identified as Phase 1A and Phase 1B candidates can call to schedule their COVID-19 vaccinations for Thursday.

Phase 1A includes health care workers, emergency service providers and others with an increased risk of coming into contact with the coronavirus, while Phase 1B includes those at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19 and people aged 65 and older.

"The vaccination clinic will open Thursday and will be available only to those who have registered to set up an appointment ahead of time. Registration for an appointment can be completed starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday at https://vctxcovid.apptoto.com/ or by contacting the COVID-19 vaccine hotline – 361-580-5796 – Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., excluding weekends and County holidays," the release reads. Further adding, " The operation is expected to vaccinate 1,000 residents. Future clinics will be scheduled once additional doses become available from the state.
