A Buda, Texas woman has been keeping a 7-foot pet alligator for the past two years in secret.  Apparently, she used to work at a place called Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo outside of San Antonio and stole an alligator egg 2 years ago! It was only recently discovered by Texas Wildlife officials.  According to an article published by fox8alive.com, Texas wildlife officials made the discovery while investigating a different reptile case.  According to the article the woman had been caring for the alligator as a pet but did not have the proper permits to keep the alligator.

Animal World and Snake farm issued the following statemen: “Alligators will have a nest of 50, 60 eggs at a time. So, it would have been very easy for someone to take an egg or a hatchling home, just kind of without anyone noticing,” The alligator appeared to be well taken care of but had outgrown the space in her backyard. The gator was recovered and returned to Animal World & Snake Farm, where you can now visit that alligator.  The woman will face up to $1000 fine without charges since it is past the statute of limitations.

ANIMAL WORLD AND SNAKE FARM:

Located just north of San Antonio on IH-35!  “Snake Farm” has been one the most prominent must-see attractions in the San Antonio/Austin area. Its establishment in 1967 However, it is not as well known as it should be!  Check out an extensive collection of snakes, reptiles, and other exotic mammals.  It is definitely a place that I would recommend going especially for animal lovers.
