A couple in Texas was driving Eastbound on I-10 near Vidor, Texas, when another truck illegally driving westbound in the eastbound lanes created a head-on collision, causing two people to be fatally injured and sending others to Beaumont's St. Elizabeth Hospital with Life-Threatening Injuries.

KJAS.COM reports Javier Munoz, 62, and his wife, Dolores Munoz, 53, both of Houston, Texas, were traveling eastbound on 1-10 when 60-year-old James Wyatt of Orange, Texas, hit them head-on.

Dolores Munoz and James Wyatt were pronounced dead at the scene, while Javier Munoz was rushed to Beaumont's St Elizabeth Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A third vehicle was involved, but Texas DPS reported they had no information on the occupants in the third vehicle.

Constable Matt Ortego said it was one of the worst accidents he had seen in 17 years of law enforcement work. Six people were transported to area hospitals, and the eastbound lane of I-10 was shut down for some time due to debris and oil on the pavement.

According to Constable Matt Ortego, Mr. Munoz was still holding his wife, Dolores Munoz's hand as law enforcement and rescue arrived. It was such a sad and tragic time for Mr. Munoz, as he sat there himself injured, but he still held on to the hand of his wife as she passed, which is beautiful.
