(DALLAS, TX) - A terrifying video showing a dump truck slamming into a Dallas-area highway overpass is making the rounds online, and if you've ever driven through the Metroplex, it may change the way you look at construction trucks forever. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, but the dramatic impact left many wondering what could have happened if traffic had been crossing the bridge at that exact moment.

Where Did the Dump Truck Impact Occur?

According to the tweet and visual cues in the video, the truck impacted the overpass on the I35 service road at the interchange with US-288 in Denton, Tx.

To be clear, I’m not talking about being afraid of being behind a dump truck with the dump bed raised on the highway. I tend to be very aware of my surroundings while behind the wheel and am pretty sure I would be quick to pull over and stay way behind the truck as it made impact with the overpass.

But all I could think about as I watched the clip was how fortunate it was that no one was on the overpass when the truck hit it. Who knows? The weight of the vehicle combined with the impact could have caused that thing to crumble. And there’s no telling what might have happened if someone had been on a motorcycle crossing the overpass when the truck struck it. That could have been so bad.

Thankfully, it doesn’t appear anyone was injured in the incident. However, it’s probably going to be a long time before anyone can safely use that overpass again. Because you and I both know that nothing happens quickly when it comes to road work in the Metroplex.
