The Massive LuLu’s Cinnamon Roll is Back in San Antonio
Back in March of 2020, Lulu's Bakery and Cafe closed its doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lulu's Bakery and Cafe was made famous by a 3.5-pound cinnamon roll that has been featured on many TV shows including Man versus Food. Not only was the cinnamon roll epic so was the chicken fried steak! While Lulu's Bakery is not coming back you will now be able to get the 3.5 cinnamon roll again! Lulu's was part of the San Antonio food scene for more than 20 years.
As reported by sanantoniomag.com, Mike Behrend who is the son of the Lulu behind the now-closed Lulu’s Bakery—announced he’ll begin offering his mom’s famous 3-pound cinnamon rolls at his other restaurant, Green Vegetarian Cuisine. You can now order your own for only 12.00 by visiting their website. And yes the cinnamon roll is vegan friendly.
Another restaurant that was featured on TV was the Tip Top Cafe on Fredricksburg Dr. It was featured on 'Diners Drive-Ins and Dives.' We also made a stop at this restaurant, however, we were kind of in a hurry and did not have time to wait. If you are not looking for it, you will miss it. The Tip Top Cafe has remained almost unchanged for over 70 years ago. Guy Feiri couldn't stop eating the open-faced roast pork and gravy sandwich, the beef enchiladas, and the buttery fried shrimp. Take a look at that show segment below.
