Who doesn't love shark week? Well, it's going on right now over at the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi!

The TSA is open for Shark Week and while they have postponed their usual presentations due to COVID-19, the exhibits are open for Texans to enjoy. This is a great week to take the kids to the aquarium because during "Shark Week" visitors will be able to cast their vote to name the 3-year-old baby sandbar shark born at TSA in 2017. You'll be able to select your vote from multiple names and the aquarium will tally the votes at the end of the week.

Up close and personal encounters with sharks is what the aquarium does best. Aquarist Cara Wendel told KRIS-TV, “Sandbar sharks are actually fairly Non-aggressive species so it is a great opportunity for us to educate people that even though we have prey fish in this exhibit, the sharks are living with them really really well." In the video at the top of the story, Cara also talks about naming the baby shark during shark week.

You can even give blood as part of "Shark Week" at the Texas State Aquarium! Don't worry, you are not going to be giving it to the sharks. TSA and Coastal Bend Blood Center will be on hand to encourage healthy members of the community to make a donation. A photo I.D. will be required for anyone who wants to donate. You'll score a free t-shirt and a COVID-19 antibody test while supplies last.
