Baby, it's cold outside!

Seeing that Victoria finally got down to freezing temperatures last night, my husband, known as Captain Husband around the studio, decided to build a fire and light the fireplace.

While he was poking at the embers I nonchalantly asked, " Do you think you could survive a winter alone in the mountains?"

He didn't even blink before he answered, " Of course."

"SURVIVE A WINTER ALONE IN THE MOUNTAINS?" I asked again this time with inflection in case he didn't hear the question correctly the first time.

"Like a real mountain man?" I teased.

"YES," he offered, with inflection in case I hadn't heard his answer correctly the first time.

I grabbed my phone and typed " Are You A Mountain Man Quiz."

Yes. There is a quiz for that!

In fact, you can take the quiz for yourself right now, right here.

The quiz, sponsored by How Stuff Works, is actually really funny but the thing is, Captain Husband answered every single question with a knowing and without hesitation, and, it kind of freaked me out.

I know he watches Deadliest Catch and Alaskan Bush People religiously. I know men will stop him while he is walking to complement his beard. I know he used to ride broncs and now spends his free time as a boat captain. I know he can tie a knot and chop wood like nobody's business but I couldn't EVEN begin to guess that he would know the answer to the following question on the quiz...

"Which famous mountain man would you like to learn more about?"

His options were; Popcorn Sutton, Kit Carson, Hugh Glass and John Adams.

Okay, I'm going to be real here. I thought Popcorn Sutton was a name they just made up to throw him off and that John Adams was a past president, right? Right?

Turns out Captain Husband didn't need to learn more about any of these famous mountain men. He knew them ALL. I spent the next few minutes listening to the life stories of these men, Hugh Glass in particular,  whom Captain Husband most admires, and from there we went through the rest of the quiz while I was in absolute awe.

My husband scored 100% on the Mountain Man Meter.

His results read, "At 100%, you are the real deal. If a global disaster were to take place, you might be the only one left standing."

I took the quiz then too. One of the questions was, "If you woke up lost in the woods, what is the first thing you would do? I answered " Call 911."

I'm embarrassed to admit I scored 25%. My results read, "You wouldn't last a week."

And that is why, ladies and gentlemen, Captain Husband could easily survive a winter ALONE in the mountains!

Sigh... well at least I know how to keep my plants alive this winter, thanks to the article below.
