Josh Abbott Band/Bobby Pulido to Headline Tejas Fest
Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a mix of Texas country, Tejano and other artists this fall at Tejas Fest, a new, free annual festival that will reflect Victoria’s unique blend of cultures and embody the new tourism slogan, “True to Tejas.”
“This new festival is part of our yearlong bicentennial celebration, so we really wanted to knock it out of the park,” said Discover Victoria, Texas Director Joel Novosad. “Our first Tejas Fest will be even bigger than Bootfest, with a wider downtown footprint and the City’s largest-ever investment in country music and Tejano artists for our main stage.”
The following artists will perform at De Leon Plaza during the two-day festival:
Friday, Oct. 4
· Bobby Pulido
· Las Fenix
· Grupo Vida
· Fantazzia
Saturday, Oct. 5
· Josh Abbott Band
· Chris Cagle
· Jarrod Birmingham
· The Past Lives
Novosad credited the recently completed De Leon Plaza expansion with helping to attract artists for the festival.
“Having amenities like a larger stage and public restroom really helps us to be able to host top-notch events,” Novosad said.
In addition to the performances at the plaza, the festival will include a second stage featuring performances by local artists. The lineup for the second stage will be announced at a later date.
More than music
The free festival will extend throughout downtown and will feature events for the whole family:
· Vendor market hosted by Mother Cluckers Downtown
· Bikes, Trikes and Power Wheels car show
· Food vendors
· Kids’ Corral games and activities
Signup information for vendors and car show participants will be announced soon.
Honoring past and present
Tejas Fest will develop on the new “True to Tejas” slogan while paying homage to festivals of years past.
Discover Victoria, Texas is planning to add more events and activities that will incorporate elements of Bootfest and Armadillo Fest while adding a unique flair to the new festival. More details will be provided as they become available.
