Join Victoria Parks & Rec Summer Cornhole Tournament
"There's a hole over there, I'm gonna throw my bag in it." #Cornhole
I'll never forget the summer I was on the air at a radio station in the midwest that held an annual cornhole tournament. In fact, tournament seems like too small a word because it was one of the largest bag events I've ever seen with hundreds, maybe thousands signing up for the day-long event. That summer in Indiana I was also introduced to 'The Cornhole Song'. Careful, once you hit play you can't un-hear the song. If you are a diehard Queen fan, maybe don't press play at all. I'm just kidding. This stupid song is pretty funny and to this day I can be anywhere in America and someone else knows this song.
Here in the Crossroads, we are getting ready for bags aka Cornhole with our own Victoria Parks and Rec. Registration will begin on March 22nd according to a press release from the city of Victoria. You can also register to play washers as well. Registration costs $60 per team if you register before April 23rd. After April 23, the cost will be $85 per team. The last day to enter a team for cornhole or washers will be April 28th.
Teams will meet and compete at Aero Crafters on Crestwood Drive on May 5th. Each team will play 8 games with a tournament for the top 4 teams. The top two teams will be declared the winners and awarded the prizes. Boards, Bags, and hand sanitizer will available for all participants. Masks and facial coverings will be a part of this event.
If you would rather play later in the summer, Parks and Rec will offer a second chance to register for another tournament coming up. Registration for the summer tournament will open later this spring in May.
