Help Is Available For Victoria Residents With High Water Bills
The City of Victoria has just announced that if you need help with your electric bill for February, they are here to help you. You just have to let them know.
I don't know about you, but I'm anxious to see what this month's electric bill is going to cost, followed by our water bill. Yikes.
With our Texas winter storm in mind and colder temperatures than we've seen in decades for February, we anticipate our utility bills will be higher than we've seen them in months...maybe in years.
Today, March 2nd, 2021, the City of Victoria's newest Civic Alert, which you can read in its entirety here, announced that "The City of Victoria has temporarily amended some of its financial policies to accommodate residents who were impacted by the winter freeze."
Specifically, residents whose February water usage is higher than normal because of the freeze may contact the Utility Billing Office to request an adjusted bill.
Upon request, the Utility Billing Office, located at 700 Main Center at Suite 110, will average residents’ water usage for the previous two months (December and January) to determine the February usage amount.
I've emphasized 'upon request' as it's important to note this is not a service the City of Victoria will provide automatically at this time. If your bill is higher than normal, you need to let the Utility Billing Office know you'd like to request an adjusted bill.
There is additional help with payment plans as well as fee waiving for disconnecting and reconnecting services too. If you would like to request an adjusted water bill or to have water service-connected and disconnected you are welcome to call the Victoria Utility Billing Office at 361.485.3400 or visit them at 700 Main Center.
