If you've ever wanted to learn more about grilling, smoking, and fire poking, we've got something just for you!

I can not tell you how hyped I am about learning more about barbequing ( okay that was weird to spell out!) because, for the last months after learning about Tootsie, a famous female pitmaster, who is the pitmaster at Snow's BBQ in Lexington, Texas, I've been OBSESSED about grilling outdoors. I mean Tootsie is considered the QUEEN OF TEXAS BBQ after all!

Here is the problem for me, I have no idea where to start when it comes to grilling, smoking and fire poking! And I don't think I am alone!

Meet Tootsie Tomanetz, my hero, thanks to Today on Youtube.

Why did I get stuck with the sides?

For as long as I can remember I've been the chosen one for sides when our family had outdoor cookouts. Come to think of it, just about every woman I know works the sides while the guys work the grill! I think early on I made a potato salad from my mother's recipe that includes onion, pickle, red peppers, green olives, and green peppers which my husband loves so maybe from that point it was just assumed I would always make that. Therefore I've always be stuck indoors. Well, that's ABOUT TO CHANGE!

See this picture? When I'm not making all the sides, I am bringing and taking things from my husband while he does the grilling!

There is a BBQ school in San Antonio for aspiring pitmasters!

It's called BrisketU, with monthly cooking classes throughout the year throughout South Texas including Austin, Houston, College Station, and San Antonio. WAIT it gets better... the classes are held at various breweries!  According to the website, "Run by a group of barbecue experts called Backyard Pitmasters, the classes help backyard grilling chefs hone their craft and become grill masters in their own right."

Classes are recurring and reasonably priced.

Classes are three hours long, and they include everything you need, even paper and pencils as well as a beer from the brewery AND often you're about to sample the bbq too. At the end of the three-hour introductory class, you too will be an official BrisketU Pitmaster. You can click for all of the details right here. Get Your Grill On!
