Recording artist Gary Morris will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. May 8 in the Sixth Annual Charity Concert Series at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Victoria. The Dallas Morning News writes, "There are voices that transcend seasons and settings. They are the kind of voices that through sheer beauty and unbridled passion soar above others. Gary Morris has one of those voices." Morris has had 10 No. 1 hits, including Song of the Year: "Wind Beneath My Wings", reports the Victoria Advocate. He has also performed at the White House for every president since Ronald Reagan.

The series will end Sept. 4 with singers and songwriters Eddy Raven and Frank Myers. Raven is known for the hit songs "I Got Mexico," "Thank God for Kids," "Who Do You Know in California," "Shine, Shine, Shine," "Bayou Boys" and "You're Playing Hard to Forget." Raven and Myers began working together in 1981 and together have produced two No. 1s, five No. 2s and three top 10 songs.

The series benefits Bluebonnet Youth Ranch, the Victoria Lions Club, Theatre Victoria and the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets can be purchased at the Welder Center Box Office and at WelderCenter.org. Individual tickets are $30 for each concert. Tickets for all performances are limited, so purchase early.
