Lionel Richie was one of the most respected songwriters and performers of his time. Even though his music had nothing to do with the country genre, he is admired and respected by the country music community. If you don't know who Lionel Richie is, you will know very soon.

The Academy of Country Music has revealed that superstars Luke Bryan, Sara Evans, Tim McGraw and Jennifer Nettles have been added to the performance lineup at the ACM Presents: Lionel Richie and Friends concert, taping Monday, April 2nd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Lionel is surprised to hear how his music has affected so many country stars of today. Mr. Richie told CMT Daily Roundup, “To listen to them go, ‘Lionel, I can’t believe I’m doing this because you know when I was a kid ‘Sail On’ was this song,’ or ‘Stuck on You’ was this song. And they’re telling me these stories. Jennifer Nettles tells a story about how her mother took her to a fair, you know, and that’s how she heard ‘Hello’ for the first time. I mean, come on! Are you kidding me?” While many solo performances will be included, the event will also feature Lionel singing duets from his upcoming album Tuskegee, out March 26th. The special is set to air Friday, April 13th on CBS.

Scheduled performances include Jason Aldean (“Say You Say Me”), The Band Perry (“Penny Lover”), Luke Bryan (“Running with the Night”), Sara Evans, Lady Antebellum (“Truly”), Martina McBride (“Still”), Jennifer Nettles (“Hello”) and Rascal Flatts (“Dancing on the Ceiling”). Plus, Lionel will sing with Kenny Chesney on “My Love,” “Sail On” with Tim McGraw and “Lady” with Kenny Rogers.

Tickets for the event are on sale now via Ticketmaster and are priced at $100-$200. Proceeds benefit ACM Lifting Lives, which works to improve lives through music.
