Art Exhibits

The Victoria Art League will have it's annual Youth Art Show for any student in grades K - 12 from Victoria and the surrounding counties. Registration will be held April 29th and 30th. There is a five dollar entry fee per student for up to two art pieces. The opening reception is on Sunday, May 3rd. It is free and open to the public and will be held the Victoria Art League Gallery from 2 to 4 PM.

The 'Polo and Western Art Sale' will be the kick-off to the annual Polo at McFaddin event on March 21, gates open at 12:30 p.m. This event will showcase five of the country's top Western artists who have generously agreed to donate 30 percent of their sales to the Nave Museum.

'Shiner Heritage Quilters' presents the 2015 'Spring Into Quilting Show' March 21st and 22nd at the Methodist Church activity center in Shiner.

The Yoakum Heritage Museum is hosting a wildlife exhibit Sunday. Admission is free but donations are appreciated. The museum will be open to the public on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

An exhibit featuring ceramic artist Ryan McKerley will run from Jan. 29-Feb. 20 in the Victoria College Fine Arts Building’s art gallery.

It's not something you think about. What happens to ships after their final voyages? Now the Nave Museum has a fascinating exhibit on this very subject. In 2009, Jeff Jennings photographed the ship breaking industry in Bangladesh, one of the few places in the world where ships go on their final voyage.

Select Work, A Photography Exhibit by O.C. Garza will open with a reception on October 10 from 4:00-6:00 and will then be open Tuesday-Friday from noon-5:00 through October 31st at the Victoria College Fine Art Gallery, 2200 East Red River Road in Victoria.

The Nave Museum's "Dia de los Muertos" exhibit will be from Oct. 2 to Nov. 1. The exhibit will feature crafted Day of the Dead altars as well as the works of local Manhattan Art Program students.

Victoria Art League's Community Art Center has undergone major improvement in recent years. To celebrate these renovations, the league will be throwing a gala on Thursday. The event is open to donors, members and the public.

"The Art of Design, Select Works from Graphic Designer Gary Hughes," will be on display beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday through 5 p.m. Oct. 3 in the Fine Arts Gallery of Victoria College. A reception featuring the artist will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Fine Arts Building. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
