Bill Creager, Father of Texas Country Star Roger Creager, Dies
Last week we learned of the passing of Bill Creager, father of Texas Country icon, Roger Creager. If you are from the Crossroads, chances are you caught a Roger Creager show at Schroeder hall. Which means you probably saw his dad, Bill, join him on stage to perform "Rancho Grande." Check out this clip from a performance at Schroeder Hall.
We thank Bill for his service in the Army as, he also served in Vietnam and was a first Sargent. He learned to speak Spanish growing up in San Diego, Texas. Roger posted the following statement to social media last week.
My father passed away this week at the age of 90. He lived a unique and beautiful life. The light he gave off drew everyone around him closer to him and I know he touched countless lives. Singing onstage with me was a joy I’ll always cherish and it was the highlight for so many who attended our shows over the years. Nearly always, as we were walking on stage, I would hear “Hey Roger, is your dad here tonight?” Well, now he’ll be with us every night. In our hearts and all around us.
@rogercreagermusic Love having my dad join me on stage! #countrymusic #texasmusic #dailyroutine #singer #songs #concert #texas ♬ Rancho Grande - ROGER CREAGER
So much history at Schroeder Hall.
There is so much history within the walls of Schroeder Hall. My absolute favorite part of Schroeder Hall is the back wall with all the autographs. The amount of musical history on those walls is absolutely incredible Including the spot where Charlie Robison bumped his head on the low ceiling on his way to take the Schroeder Stage. Here is a snapshot of some new guy's autograph back in 2011. Maybe you have heard of Cody Johnson? If only these walls could talk.
