According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, Hurricane Beryl, a Category 2 storm, has landed in the Yucatan Peninsula. It maintains a west-northwesterly track and is expected to enter the Southwest Gulf of Mexico this evening and then move northwestward.

It is spread out, with landfall points extending from northeastern Mexico to the Middle Texas coast. The Crossroads and South Texas must now prepare for its arrival somewhere along the Texas Coast.

Therefore, all of South Texas should be preparing for a hurricane. Beryl is expected to make landfall late Sunday night or early Monday morning somewhere near or along the Coastal Bend as a Category 1 Hurricane, though plan for a Category 2.

There is a 20-35% chance of tropical storm force winds within the next five days, with the earliest reasonable arrival time along the Middle Texas Coast Sunday morning and most likely Sunday night. It's crucial to remain prepared and vigilant in this uncertainty.

Regardless of the track, dangerous rip currents and tidal runup along the coast will continue through the holiday weekend. Storm surge and seas will begin to increase later this weekend.

The coast will have dangerous swimming conditions! Any outer rainbands may produce wind gusts at or above tropical storm force, and a few isolated tornadoes will be possible, particularly from Sunday through Monday. Due to the potential for heavy rainfall and the training of showers/storms, there is at least a 15% chance of flash flooding across the Coastal Bend, Coastal Plains, and Victoria Crossroads.
