The Houston Astros started the season on with a record of 5-1 and their bat was on fire. Since then their bats have cooled off and have gone 1-5 since that point. Currently, the Astros have a .500 record at 6-6 and sit in third place in the AL West, and are looking to get back on track and as for now, they are going to have to do it without some of their biggest names.

Right now the Astros are playing short-handed, to say the least. They are currently playing without the services of the second baseman Jose Altuve, third baseman Alex Bregman, designated hitter Yordan Alvarez, catcher Martin Maldonado and infielder Robel Garcia on the injured list because of COVID-19 health and safety protocols. That is some serious firepower that is out of the lineup.

The announcement was made before yesterday's game against the Detroit Tigers.  Head manager, Click would not say if a player had tested positive for COVID-19 or been exposed to someone who had and that the length of each player's absence would be determined by contract testing that is being performed.

The Astros have the day off today and will resume play on the West coast for a three-game series with the Seattle Mariners followed by a two-game series in Colorado.  Let's hope they have to full team ready to roll when they return to Minute Maid on Thursday, April 22nd for a 4-game weekend series with the Los Angeles Angels.

LET'S GO ASTROS!!
