It just keeps getting bigger, and better for the Vela Family. Just a few short years ago Sara and her family started an adventure of a lifetime, making of all things...jelly.

Sara only had a few months of experience actually making jelly under her belt when she and her family made a decision to make jelly full time. It started slowly with all hands on deck as the Velas made their way through farmers markets and market days. Her jelly, made with ingredients harvested exclusively from the Vela Farm, was a hit everywhere the Vela's went.

Sara had only been making jelly for a few short months before Vela Farms caught the eye of H.E.B. when Vela Farms jelly was entered into H.E.B's prestigious Quest for Texas Best in 2014.

At the last minute, Sara changed her flavor choice of jelly to present to H.E.B. to include her unique "Texas Sweet Tea Jelly." This happened to be an amazing decisions as this was the very flavor that caught HEB’s attention. Sara was asked to present her product in the finals in a “shark tank” like presentation. Out of 650 entries across the state of Texas, Vela Farms won 3rdplace and was awarded $10,000! Vela Farms quickly became so much more than jelly!

Just five short years later, Vela Farms was to receive another prestigious accolade from H.E.B. In March of 2019, Vela Farms reached the million dollar mark in sales at H.E.B!

Here is the Vela family in their Quest for Texas Best commercial in 2014.

In 2015, Vela Farms opened a brick and mortar storefront downtown in the historic Barnes building. By June of 2017, Vela Farms was bursting at the seams so they moved to the Subway space just a few doors down. Well once again Vela Farms has outgrown its space and will be moving two blocks down to 221 South Main where wine bar 77901 and Lauren Bade's was located previously. The new ample space will give Vela Farms the opportunity to expand into a bakery and offer cooking classes once again.

Vela Farms is proud to partner with Crossroads Cruisers on the first Saturday of the month to offer "Cars and Coffee' breakfast buffet from 9 to 11am. " Our goal is to have 300 cars a month downtown" Sara offers.

New to their menu and an exciting edition for those downtown on Sunday is Vela Farms breakfast buffet now offered every Sunday from 10am to 2pm.

A true supporter of the downtown Victoria movement, Sara offers, " Great things are happening downtown! Join us in the new adventure!
