The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) will host a ranch gathering Thursday, September 18 at the Gonzales American Legion Hall in Gonzales, Texas. Registration will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by a complimentary beef dinner. The event is free and open to the public.
It's always fun when the Gonzales Master Gardeners take over Texas Heroes Square for its annual spring plant sale. This year, the event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 5 - or until sold out (whichever comes first) - at the corner of St. Louis and St. Joseph streets on the town square in Gonzales.
The Come and Take It Squares of Gonzales are offering two free square dancing open houses to introduce the fun of square dancing to others. The free open houses will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday Jan. 13 and Jan. 20 at the Presbyterian Church, 414 St. Louis St., in Gonzales.
Oct. 2, 1835, marked the beginning of the Texas Revolution with the firing of the first shot near Gonzales, in modern-day Cost. The shot was fired by a cannon given to Gonzales by the Mexican government as protection from the Indians.
