If you do one thing this summer, make a point to stop by the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center and donate blood. Giving the gift of life is one of the most important things you can do this summer. To make it easier, the City of Victoria is hosting several blood drives.
This is no surprise to anyone who has lived and/or worked in Victoria for any length of time. Victoria is very proud of it's history and it shows through our city's many preservation efforts. Now we have been recognized nationally for our efforts.
A good time for the entire family is guaranteed if you join the City of Victoria and Keep Victoria Beautiful at an Idle Free Jamboree on Saturday at Riverside Park. The event will feature soap box races, food, entertainment and a car show.
In celebration of Earth Day, an Earth Day Expo sponsored by the city's Environmental Services Department, First Victoria Bank and the Texas Zoo, will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, April 22 at the Texas Zoo. According to the Victoria Advocate, admission is $1 per person, and zoo members are admitted free. There will be conservation programs, Lucas, the singing zoologist, kids' activities, booths and interactive, hands-on learning activities.
