Reba McEntire is a veteran of both television and movies, but do you remember her very first film?

McEntire has had an unusually multifaceted career, taking part in records, concerts and stage acting as well as TV and films. She made her film debut in the cult classic Tremors, starring opposite Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward and Family Ties dad Michael Gross in a campy science fiction movie set in a small town where underground creatures are trying to kill off the local residents. McEntire played the part of Heather Gummer, half of a survivalist couple who help defend the townspeople from the creatures.

Tremors debuted on Jan. 19, 1990, and Bacon admits that he had deep misgivings about his role in the film, which he accepted after a string of flops that included Quicksilver and She's Having a Baby.

Movies and TV Shows That Completely Misrepresent Country Music

"I broke down and fell to the sidewalk, screaming to my pregnant wife, ‘I can’t believe I’m doing a movie about underground worms!'" he recalls.

Despite Bacon's lack of confidence in Tremors, the movie — which was not a huge box office success — went on to become a cult classic, inspiring a string of direct-to-video sequels. McEntire went on to a wide variety of acting roles, including The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw with Kenny Rogers, Rob Reiner's North, a TV movie called Is There Life Out There? that was based on her hit song of the same name, and a long-running sitcom, Reba. She scored an Emmy nomination in 1995 for her role in Buffalo Girls, and in 2001 she starred on Broadway as Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun.
