The Calhoun County Veterans Council will host a Memorial Day dedication at 10 a.m. Monday at Bayfront Peninsula. The ceremony will include members of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American GI Forum. Congressman Blake Farenthold and State Rep. Geanie Morrison will speak at the dedication.

The Calhoun County Historical Commission will dedicate a World War II historical marker. Refreshments will be served. The unveiling of the marker will follow at 11 a.m. at the Calhoun County Courthouse, 211 S. Ann St. Mary Beth Rabenaldt, of Indianola, and Dr. James Record, of Victoria, sixth-generation siblings whose family comes from Indianola, will speak at the courthouse.
