Martina McBride’s ‘Everlasting’ Debuts at No. 1
It’s celebration time for Martina McBride! Her new album ‘Everlasting’ nabbed her the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums for the first time in over five years.
In addition to snatching the top spot, the ‘Broken Wing’ hitmaker also made a little bit of history, becoming the only woman in the Top Country Albums chart’s 50-year history to debut at No. 1 with an independently-released and distributed album, according to Billboard.
‘Everlasting’ was released on April 8 and features cover songs of pop classics, including Elvis Presley’s ‘Suspicious Minds,’ the Teddy Bears’ ‘To Know Him Is to Love Him,’ and Van Morrison‘s ‘Wild Night.’
This record is McBride’s fifth Top Country Albums topper and first since the 2009 debut of ‘Shine.’
“Working with Kelly and Gavin was a lot of fun, I mean they’re both such great singers and I think we found songs that really fit their personalities and voices. Doing duets is a lot of fun, we had a great time in the studio,” McBride tells Parade.
