Good news on the John Anderson health front: a representative for the singer says he is “on the road to full recovery.”

Anderson worried fans when he announced on Aug. 2 that he was dealing with “serious medical issues” and as a result had canceled a headlining appearance at the Main Street Music Festival in Alabama on Aug. 5. But in a Facebook post shared on Tuesday (Aug. 8), it appears that the singer’s health is moving in a positive direction.

“We would like to thank everyone for all the prayer and well wishes. John is doing great and on the road to full recovery. He will be back on the road in no time!” Anderson and his team share in the note.

Country Singers Who Have Suffered Tragedy

The country singer has not disclosed the health issues that caused concern, with his team writing on Facebook only that he would be “under the direct care and supervision of a Nashville area doctor” until further notice.

Anderson had his major breakthrough on the country music scene in 1982 with the release of “Swingin’,” giving him his second No. 1 hit behind “Wild and Blue.” It not only scored him a chart-topping hit, but also achieved gold certification from the RIAA and earned the singer the award for Single of the Year at the 1983 CMAs. LeAnn Rimes and Chris Young have both recorded cover versions of the track, with Rimes’ famous rendition scoring her a nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance at the 2011 Grammy Awards. Other signature hits in Anderson’s catalogue include “Straight Tequila Night,” “Black Sheep” and “Somewhere Between Ragged and Right” featuring Waylon Jennings.
