Jimmy Smith Makes It to the Next Round by a ‘Landslide’ on ‘American Idol’
Jimmy Smith won his way to Las Vegas on ‘American Idol‘ Thursday night (Feb. 7), singing the Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Landslide’ in a strong performance that demonstrated not only his vocal chops, but his poised stage presence.
The 25-year-old performer blew the judges away at his audition with a soulful version of the Rascal Flatts hit ‘Bless the Broken Road,’ but he seemed less confident in Hollywood. He sang the classic tune — which the Dixie Chicks have also covered — in a version fairly close to the original, but he seemed uncertain afterward.
“I feel pretty good about it tonight, but I’ve seen some good people go,” he observed.
But the judges were impressed with Smith once again. “You definitely wowed me,” Mariah Carey gushed. And the other judges evidently agreed, as Smith advanced to the next round.
