Jazz music was a big part of my life growing up, thanks to my Dad. While my own tastes have changed over the years to include rock, blues and jazz fusion, I still love the traditional sound of a great jazz band. Live jazz is what it's all about this Thursday (April 23) with the Victoria Symphony's Downtown Rhythms.

The "Flag City Opry" will be at the Jackson County Services Building Auditorium, 411 N. Wells Street in Edna, Tuesday evening. Featured performers are Ed Gary, of Phoenix, Arizona; Gary Brock, of Crosby; Linda Martin, of Runge.

Last weekend Josh Abbott showed up to ChiliFest on a camel. Yup! Right there, in the middle of Aaron Watson's set Josh and his camel walked right up to the front of the stage. Was the camel-ride a well planned stunt? Did it happen organically? Where did he get a camel?

The "Crossroads Country Opry" is tonight at the Jaycee Hall, 2905 E. North Street in Victoria, featuring Elaine Garcia, Ed Gary, Logan Gisler, and Ann Boyd along with the CCO Band: Randy Boyd, Henry Hosek, David Waters, Dana Smith, Randall Edwards, and John L Sullivan!

Fans filled nearly two city blocks to hear Hank Williams, Jr. sing his hits during the NRA Country Jam on Friday night (April 10). Lower Broadway in Nashville was shoulder-to-shoulder from 6th Ave. to Honky Tonk Central on 4th Ave., and the crowd arrived early.

There's no shortage of girl power when Kelsea Ballerini and Jana Kramer are around. The talented singers are embarking on a month-long tour with CMT which highlights rising female country artists.

Even though rain and thunderstorms shadowed the weather forecast for much of Saturday.  People came out in herds to support local entertainment.  Whether it was the Crawfish Fest,The Fiesta Downtown, Roger Creager at Schroeder Hall, or Fennixx at Dodge...

Today is the big day! It's the '4th Annual Scott Taylor Band Crawfish Festival" and KIXS 108 and Joe Bob will be there broadcasting live from noon until 2pm.

Enjoy some good old country music by The Pilgrim Heirs Band Saturday at 5pm at the Pilgrim Community Center, 12809 Farm-to-Market Road 1116 in Gonzales. Special guests include Mary Sue Collins, Lembo Allen, and Leonard Rodriquez.
