TX DMV: Your Windshield View Will Soon Be Clearer

I've lived in California (my birth state--please don't hold that against me!), Tennessee, and Arkansas before I moved to Texas in June of 2012. In all of those other states, you got your vehicle inspected as required by the state; then you took the piece of paper that showed your vehicle passed inspection to the DMV office, and they gave you a little sticker to put on the designated corner of your license plate. You were now good for a year. Well, when I got to Texas, I found out the process is a little more involved, and not one, but TWO stickers go on your windshield, not your plate. Now, that's about to change.

Video: Dogs “Walk” Humans, Adoptions Rise

We've all seen ads for animal shelters and the Humane Society featuring sad faces of animals looking for their "furever" home. Yes, they can tug at your heart, and are quite often very effective. However, after you see them over and over, they can lose their emotional impact. With this in mind, an Australian animal shelter came up with a unique program in which the dogs do the "rescuing" of humans. Check out the video to see how this shift in perspective saved some 5,000 dogs.

Amateur Radio Has a ‘Field Day’ Last Weekend in June

Despite the Internet, cell phones, email and modern communications, every year whole regions find themselves in the dark. Tornadoes, fires, storms, ice and even the occasional cutting of fiber optic cables leave people without the means to communicate. In these cases, the one consistent service that has never failed has been Amateur Radio. These radio operators, often called “hams,” provide backup communications for everything from the American Red Cross to FEMA and even for the International Space Station. Victoria’s “hams” will join with thousands of other Amateur Radio operators showing their emergency capabilities the weekend of June 28-29, 2014.

Video: Fast Food Ads vs. Reality

We've all seen the ads for the various major fast food restaurants. The pictures of their menu items look so amazingly delicious! Why, you can just smell the wonderful aroma of fresh, juicy beef...warm, fluffy buns, and crisp, farm-fresh lettuce, tomato and onion, right? Well, I think you'll agree that what we see isn't always what we get; and one YouTube video producer set out to find the fast food that looks the most like it does in their ads.
