Last night I was flipping around the channels looking for something to watch on TV while doing some work on the computer, and that's when I passed Fox Sports Southwest and saw that they were showing the Rangers Astros game. Well, I had forgotten about that game and was pleasantly surprised that it was on. Since the Astros are no longer carried on our local cable package, I don't get to see them play very often, and I was thrilled.

I came in around the 5th inning and the Astros were ahead 2-0. Starting pitcher Frances Martes looked like he was losing control after loading the bases and giving up a run. Everything he was throwing was in the dirt or high, and I was wondering why they weren't pulling him out, but then, he did manage to pitch out of a jam, and ended the inning giving up his only run, and he also struck out 7 in his 5 innings to grab his first win.

The Astros bats came alive the rest of the night, putting up 9 runs in the 6th inning, and Derek Fisher made his debut a memorable one by hitting an RBI single and a home run.

The Astros will enjoy today off as they get ready for a 3-game series against the Boston Red Sox.
