The Victoria Family YMCA, in partnership with Victoria College, will open its new Early Learning Center for children ranging in age from 18 months to 5 years. The center will serve as a year-round preschool and features active mind, active play curriculum designed to enhance spatial learning and development, according to a news release from the YMCA. The Victoria Family YMCA's program will be an all-day preschool with four separate classrooms - 18-23 months, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds and 4- to 5-year-olds. The curriculum will be dedicated to age-appropriate enrichment activities that include art, music, literacy work, science and physical activity. In addition, there will be parent handouts and child progress reports designed to encourage follow-up activities at home.

The center opens Aug. 4 and will operate from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants who register before Aug. 1 will get the $45 registration fee waived. The weekly rate for 18- to 23-month-olds is $107 for Victoria College students and $125 for the community. The weekly rate for 2- to 5-year-old care is $94 for Victoria College students and $110 for the community.

The Early Learning Center, 1806 Colorado St., will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For more information, contact Michelle Cavazos at 361-575-0511 or mcavazos@ymcavictoria.org or visit ymcavictoria.org.
