West Rolls On, Hallettsville and Shiner to State Game
The High School Football Playoffs continue! Let's start with our local boys at West. The West Warriors defeated McAllen Memorial 61-35 in a bi-district victory on Friday night. Senior Chase Patek had himself a night with a total of 343 all-purpose yards mixed in with 5 touchdowns. Patek currently has 1177 yards on the ground with 16 rushing touchdowns.
Blake Buzzell continues to put up stellar numbers with 2400 total passing yards and 32 passing TD's. While these two are the engines that run the offense, West Warrior football is a total team effort. The West Warriors(7-3) will move on to the area round of the playoffs and take on Eagle Pass Winn(5-2) on Thursday evening at 7 PM at Comalander Stadium in San Antonio. Good luck, West Warriors!
Let's also like to take a moment to congratulate the East Titans on a fantastic season. The Titans fell to Weslaco East 26-23 on Friday night in a hard-fought bi-district matchup. The East Titans have nothing to be ashamed of and everything to be proud of. They had a great 2020 football season, EAST SIDE, BEAST SIDE.
Now it's time to talk about a couple of state championship games happening this week for a couple of area teams. Shiner is taking on Post on Thursday morning at 11 AM. Hallettsville will take on Tuscola Jim Ned on Thursday evening at 7 PM. Both of these games will happen at Jerry World, AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Talk about the big stage. Bring those trophies back to the Crossroads. Good Luck.
Speaking of state championships. Congratulations to Shiner St. Paul on winning the TAPPS state title. This is their third consecutive state title.
