Watch Tim McGraw, Charlie Worsham Cover Glen Campbell’s ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’
Backstage before a recent Soul2Soul Tour date, Tim McGraw and Charlie Worsham covered Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy." Readers can press play above to watch the performance.
The backdrop for McGraw and Worsham's performance isn't glamorous: an arena dressing room filled with road cases. Throughout the song, Worsham keeps the melody on guitar; McGraw takes the lead on the first verse and chorus, with Worsham adding harmonies, while Worsham leads the second verse and chorus. McGraw is clearly a fan, as he nods on approvingly.
"Geeze, that's good!" McGraw says at the end of the duet, joking, "If I could sing like that, I would have a career."
Written by Larry Weiss, "Rhinestone Cowboy" was made famous by Campbell in the mid-1970s. Released as a single in May of 1975, the song peaked at No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Hot 100 charts. "Rhinestone Cowboy" is the title track of Campbell's 1975 album.
McGraw and wife Faith Hill's Soul2Soul Tour began in April; it is scheduled to run through late October. Their opening acts have varied throughout the trek; Worsham played with the couple on June 22-24, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
McGraw and Hill are working on a collaborative album, to be released via Sony later this year; their current single is "Speak to a Girl." Worsham, meanwhile, recently released his sophomore album, Beginning of Things, in April.
