Victoria Reports Second COVID-19 Outbreak
A second COVID-19 outbreak has been confirmed over at Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital of Victoria - Southeast (this time). Doh! This is the southeast facility that is inside Citizens Medical over on Hospital Drive and up on the sixth floor.
News broke last night in an article in the Victoria Advocate by Ciara McCarthy. We have been hearing for some time about various setbacks in the process, false-negative test results, complications with supplies, everything that could just about make anybody want to throw in the towel. You know what? Our city officials have not. They come to every OEM meeting trying to give us the best information they can.
Within the last couple of days, 9 new cases of COVID-19 have come from this facility. It's part of the discussion in the OEM videos we share on our station site and app. Six of these poor folks are Victoria county residents according to the Victoria County Public Health Department. 10 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed yesterday according to the OEM website. The 9 from the facility and 1 additional as explained in the meeting. This brings the total number of cases to 114. Thankfully, 67 folks have been moved to the recovered list. Sadly, 2 county residents have died from the virus so far.
Please remember to wear a mask or facial covering when heading out this weekend for essential errands. We've got a long way to go. Our prayers go up for Victoria and all our front line workers trying so hard to do the best they can to keep people safe.
