The City of Victoria Main Street Program’s Merry on Main is returning to De Leon Plaza for an all-day celebration befitting the new plaza expansion.

Merry on Main will be 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 14 in downtown Victoria.

The schedule is packed with activities for residents to choose from, with most children’s activities ending around 5 p.m. while live entertainment and shopping will continue throughout the evening.

Here are some of the activities that attendees will be able to enjoy:

  • Mother Cluckers Downtown open-air market with more than 100 vendors
  • Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the De Leon Plaza bandstand (noon-5 p.m.)
  • Cookies and other goodies provided by Golden Crescent CASA while supplies last
  • Pony rides and petting zoo (through 5 p.m.)
  • Inflatables for children (through 5 p.m.)
  • Snow party by Foamed Up
  • Food trucks
  • Appearances by special guests and community partners

The event will also feature live music at the De Leon Plaza performance pavilion:

  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Victoria ISD students
  • 1:30-2:30 p.m.: April Hall
  • 3-4 p.m.: David & Goliath
  • 4:30-5:30 p.m.: Stephanie Ross
  • 6-8 p.m.: Christmas Tree Huggers

Handicapped-accessible parking will be available on West Forrest Street near the courthouse.

City of Victoria closures for Christmas, New Year’s Day

All nonemergency City of Victoria offices will close Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25, in observance of Christmas.

Offices also will close Wednesday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day.

VICTORIA PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Victoria Public Library will close Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.

TRASH, RECYCLING AND YARD WASTE

There is no scheduled trash pickup on Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Curbside recycling scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 25, will be collected Saturday, Dec. 28.

Curbside recycling and yard waste scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 1, will be picked up on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Yard waste will not be collected Dec. 25-Jan. 1 to accommodate extra garbage collection services.
