Victoria is Thankful for Veterans like U.S. Army Specialist Terence Jones
A HUGE thanks to Troy for sending us these special photos from yesterday's Tunnel to Towers Foundation pre-Thanksgiving ceremony to honor U.S. Army Specialist Terence "Bo" Jones.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation made the dedication to Specialist Jones as part of their Season of Hope during which the foundation gives away 36 mortgage-free homes to some of our nation's greatest heroes and their families who have served and sacrificed for the United States of America. Locally they partner with Victory and GMC to help make donations like this one possible.
Here in Victoria, we are so thankful for great American's like Specialist Jones. It's our honor to have someone like him as part of our community. The mortgage-free smart home was presented Tuesday, November 24th.
Back in 2012, Specialist Jones was nearing the end of an 11-month tour of duty in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan when came in contact with an IED (Improvised explosive device). Specialist Jones lost both legs to the blast and nearly lost his arm. Doctors were able to fuse his arm together at the elbow. He has endured about 130 surgical procedures since 2012.
For most of his life Specialist Jones enjoyed building and working on cars and motorcycles. He was able to go to welding school and now uses his skill set and experience to build custom wheelchairs for other injured service members and Veterans. He is an inspiration to so many Veterans and citizens alike, and we are very lucky to have so many great Americans just like him who call Texas home.
If you like, you can follow this year's Season of Hope on the Tunnel to Towers Foundation Facebook page to see all 36 Veterans who are receiving homes this year. It's a very cool snapshot into the life of so many people who have served and continue to serve. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of them, and everyone who supports and sponsors such incredibly important programs like this one. Happy Thanksgiving!
