Amid this COVID-19 pandemic, we have to send a thanks to all of our healthcare workers on the front line, including two VC Respiratory Care Program graduates.

Savana Barela-Ramos and Paige Williams never thought that this would be their introduction to the workforce!   These two are working tirelessly on the frontline in the battle of COVID-19, right here in Victoria.  As respiratory therapist at DeTar Hospital Navarro, Savana and Paige are essential in combatting the coronavirus, which attacks the lungs and other organs.

According to a VC press release, VC graduate Paige Williams says, “We’re the ones who manage the airways, and that ranges from providing a breathing treatment for someone, to putting a tube into someone to help them breathe and putting them on a ventilator."  VC graduate, Barela-Ramos says“I was talking to my coworkers the other day, and it was super slow. It’s almost like that calm before the storm. We know we’re going to get hit harder, it’s just a matter of when. That's the biggest stress marker for a lot of us – the fear of the unknown. We just have to be prepared.”  You can read the full press release by clicking here.  Once again, a huge thank you to our Healthcare workers for leading the charge to defeat COVID-19.  Remember to practice social distancing!  Stay safe, stay home and support your local businesses!
