Deborah Blum, author of the New York Times best seller “The Poisoner’s Handbook: Murder & the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York,” will share her stories at 7 p.m. tonight at the Leo J. Welder Center. As a newspaper reporter in Sacramento, California, she covered glaciers in Alaska, observed volcanoes in Hawaii, and reported on the tragic explosion of the space shuttle Challenger. Her series on ethical issues in primate research, “The Monkey Wars,” won the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for beat reporting.
