USGS Notes Second Earthquake in South Texas in 30 Days
The U.S.Geological Survey has picked up another South Texas earthquake and it's the second one since Super Bowl Sunday.
Is this 2021's way of trying to outdo 2020? The 2.5 magnitude earthquake was centered a couple of miles outside Nixon, Texas. Nixon is about 60 miles from Victoria. The event took place just before 9 pm on Tuesday evening.
The earthquake on February 7th was centered in Smiley, Texas, just north of Cuero and about 42 miles to the Northwest of the city of Victoria. That quake measured a 3.3. Maps on the USGS site show at least 3 events taking place about halfway between Victoria and San Antonio. It makes you wonder what is going on out there. Do we have spaceships landing?
If you felt the earthquake on Tuesday evening and you live in our listening area we would love to hear from you. What was your location when you felt the earthquake? Just as important as data from those who felt the ground moving are reports from anyone who may have been in the area who did NOT feel anything. U.S. GS also wants to hear about those reports. You can comment on social media or you can use our free station app to send us a message about what you felt or saw.
