Want to shake some of the boredom of quarantine off as a family? Why not challenge your family to accept the two newest Crossroads Community Challenges with fun activities just for our Crossroads Community from the Victoria Police Department and the Victoria Public Library?

Challenge Accepted!

First there is a great poetry reading challenge going on right now at the Victoria Public Library which incidentally is offering curbside pick up service to keep their doors open and the books flowing! Librarians there have done an amazing job keeping the love of reading to Victoria through their live and recorded streaming of their popular programs like Toddler Time! Most recently they've created a challenge for recorded poetry reading. The length of the poem and how you read it is up to you but you don't want to miss the opportunity to challenge someone after your reading!

In fact, Ingra Lee recited her favorite poem from Shel Silverstein titled " Invitation." She then challenged her morning show co-host Lord Helmet (JP) and he read "Crabby" by Barbara Vance. Well, if you are reading this, you've officially been challenged too! That's right, JP challenged YOU Crossroads!

Let's Talk Chalk Art!

The Victoria Police Department is encouraging families to get outdoors while safely social distancing and create their own chalk art on our community sidewalks. It's called Chalk Talk and it's a chalk art challenge of sorts. Once your masterpiece is chalked, Victoria Police Department wants you to take a photo, include the hashtag #VPDChalkTalk and send it to them to post on their community Facebook page. If you are in need of chalk for your family, pm the VPD and they will be happy to get you the chalk you need to complete the challenge.

Don't you love all the ways our community has been coming together to offer each other support and activities to make our community smarter and brighter?!

We think so too!
