‘The Voice': Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins Perform ‘Hell Right’
Blake Shelton's team didn't make it through Tuesday's (Dec. 10) brutal cut unscathed on The Voice, which slashed the Top 8 to Top 4. His contestant Ricky Duran made it through, while Kat Hammock was eliminated, with a resulting four representing one from each team (a phenomenon that we haven't seen in years!). Shelton doesn't even have a country dog in the fight anymore, with coach Kelly Clarkson holding down that fort in the form of her fan favorite Jake Hoot, who (of course) made it through the cut as well.
That said, all of this did not faze Shelton, who has little to be concerned about—except, well, Hoot...and his girlfriend and fellow coach Gwen Stefani's Rose Short, who won the Instant Save and just happened to perform "God Country" even better than Shelton himself the other week. Shelton went ahead and kept it country by kicking off the show with Trace Adkins, performing their duet of "Hell Right" to prove to everyone that Shelton is still the country representative on the show.
Despite the fact that Shelton didn't even turn his chair for this season's country favorite, Hoot ("I know you probably wanted Blake, but this is a better home I promise," Clarkson told Hoot early in the season), he definitely still has marked his territory for this season and those to come.
We'll be following along to the very end of this Season 17 competition, so be sure to check in to check the progress of your favorites on the show. Almost to the finale!
