Victoria Fine Arts Association will NOT Cancel Upcoming Event Amid COVID-19 Pandemic.  VFAA will adapt to using technology to provide funds to college students.

In a press release from the The Victoria Fine Arts Association...

'The Victoria Fine Arts Association is moving forward with their event “Let’s Get Lit!”, a writing contest focused on showcasing short story and poem entries from anyone currently enrolled as a student at VC and/or UHV. Submissions that adhere to the contest regulations from students will be accepted through April 17, 2020 and will then be reviewed by selected judges. The top three submissions will be selected and awarded cash prizes of $500, $300, and $200. The “event” is now taking place 100% online considering recent developments of the COVID-19 pandemic. Full details and regulations can be found on the VFAA website at victoriafinearts.org/getlit.

“We believe that, especially now in the midst of challenges presented by COVID-19, it is imperative to continue to offer this financial opportunity to students who have been displaced or are experiencing financial strains. One unique advantage VFAA has identified, that has allowed us to avoid cancelling this event, is that we are able to adapt it to a 100% online platform to ensure the safety of all participants while still offering financial incentives amid this global crisis to students who practice fine arts,” said Kate Garcia, president of the Victoria Fine Arts Association.

Victoria Fine Arts Association is the longest running fine arts non-profit in Victoria. VFAA was chartered in September of 1946. For nearly 74 years, VFAA has provided the Victoria area with a plethora of fine arts experiences and support ranging from events featuring world famous operatic tenor, Luciano Pavarotti to underwriting an interactive musical flower exhibit for the Children’s Discovery Museum. In its lifetime, VFAA has persevered through many trying times. VFAA has always found a way to contribute back to the community whenever possible and remains committed to doing so.

As an organization, we function with our mission statement in mind: The Victoria Fine Arts Association (VFAA) shall provide diverse opportunities in the Crossroads that will foster appreciation and further stimulate interest in the fine arts, leveraging the collective strength of other Victoria area nonprofits when possible'

Please show your support to the Victoria Fine Arts Association!
