The Victoria Armadillos Continue Tryouts
Back on July 7th, we learned that a Semi-Pro Baseball team is coming to Victoria. After an announcement on Facebook, social media started buzzing about baseball in Victoria. Tryouts started almost immediately on July 17th and have had a very strong response. Currently, the Victoria Armadillos are in talks with a league and possibly partnering up with other leagues.
This past Saturday was the 3rd tryout session and it brought out Hometown Hero Andre Del Bosque.
STJ graduate(GO BIG BLUE) Andre Del Bosque played at Temple Community College for two years and then had Tommy John surgery. He then took the mound for the UHV Jaguars and was their closer during their 2014 season. He recorded 86 strikeouts in 71 innings and set a school record with 13 saves.
He became the first player in the program's history to be selected in Major League Baseball's first-year player draft when he was picked by the New York Yankees in the 38th round. He spent last season with Charleston, S.C. of the South Atlantic League and Staten Island of the New York-Penn League.
Also joining the team is Victoria Generals pitching alum and fan-favorite Daniel Tunchez.
On July 21st, we were introduced to the Manager/Head Coach Phillip Barron and Assitant Coaches Carlos Garcia Jr. and Christoper Soliz
