The Latest On the Tropics 7-23-20
10 AM UPDATE
24 hours can make a big difference when it comes tropical forecast. Just yesterday, we were looking at a possible Tropical Depression making landfall on the Texas Coast. That has now been upgraded to Tropical Storm Hanna when it makes landfall.
Tropical Storm watches has been issued along the coast and for the Crossroads and Coastal Bend.

The 10 AM update has winds at 35 MPH and is still moving WNW at 9 MPH, the path has shifted a little further south.

Tropical Strom Gonzalo has also been upgraded as well.
Forecast now show that Gonzalo will now be a hurricane before the end of today! It is currently on a westward track at 12 MPH, with current sustained winds of 65 MPH. We will start watching this storm very closely early next week as it makes it's way towards the Gulf of Mexico. Stay safe and prepared!

This is when tropical storms and hurricanes can form not just in the Gulf of Mexico, off the Southeast coast or western Caribbean Sea, but also in what is called the main development region and take long tracks through the Atlantic Basin.
