Texas Sets New Record for Positive COVID-19 Tests In 48 Hours
What's harder to believe? That it's already May of 2020, or that Texas just set a new record for new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in 48 hours.
Over the first weekend of the Month of May, our state reported the two largest consecutive-day increases in the number of COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. Just May 2nd and May 3rd, Texas added over 2000 new cases of COVID-19, with over 1200 of them reported on Saturday.
Back on April 10th, the state reported 1,441 new cases of COVID-19. Up until this past weekend, that was the biggest number of reported cases in a single day. Now we are seeing new positive cases from the weekend at over 2000 per day. Thankfully, on Monday, May 4th, the state reported 784 new cases. So what is the grand total? CBS19.com says Texas is up to 32,332 confirmed cases as of last night. The number of Texans who have died from COVID-19 sadly stands at 884 as of Monday.
