Texas Native Actor Eddie Hassell Shot and Killed in Dallas
"Surface" and "The Kids Are All Right" 30-year-old actor Eddie Hassell was shot and killed in Grand Praire Dallas Texas early on Sunday morning.
An investigation into the shooting and death of Texas native Eddie Hassell is ongoing, but according to the early reporting provided by NBC News, "Police in Grand Prairie, Texas, said they responded to shooting at 1:50 a.m. on Sunday where they found Hassell, of Waco, “suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.” Hassell’s manager said he was shot in the stomach. Officers gave first aid to the actor, who was then transported to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.
At this time, no motive or suspect has been identified.
The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. in the 3000 block of West Bardin Road, which is near Highway 36 on the south side of Grand Prairie in Dallas. At the time of the shooting, Hassell was outside his girlfriend’s apartment, his manager reported in an interview with Variety magazine. Eddie Hassell's girlfriend was in the apartment when the shooting occurred, and she did not see the assailant," Hassell’s manager continued.
According to Fox News4 in Dallas, "Grand Prairie police have not given a motive for the killing. They have only said, "A car was taken from the scene and later recovered."
Eddie was a native Texan, born in Corsicana, where he began acting professionally as a teenager with a dozen films to his credit.
