UPDATE: Heartbreaking Texas Elementary Massacre Leaves 21 Dead
The immensely tragic shooting has Texas mourning. Tuesday, May 24, 2022, a catastrophic shooting took place in Uvalde, Texas.
The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, a student in the very same school district. Reports have come in stating Ramos had originally shot and killed his grandmother then entered Robb Elementary School and opened fire.
Texas Governor Abbott confirmed 15 deaths so far. "He[Ramos] abandoned his vehicle with a handgun and possibly a rifle, he shot and killed horrifically incomprehensibly 14 students and killed a teacher," Abbott stated.
DIGGING UP THE SUSPECT'S PAST
Ramos has been killed by responding officers, and two officers were struck by rounds but are in stable condition. Authorities are trying to go through the 18-year-olds profile to see what his connection is to Robb Elementary. Authorities will be searching for his connection to the Elementary school, how he obtained the weapons, and much more.
Abbott empathized with the serious situation and the ripple effect it will have, "What happened in Uvalde is a horrific tragedy that cannot be tolerated in Texas there is swift action being taken. When parents drop their kids off at school they have every expectation to know that they are going to be able to pick their child up."
AN ENTIRE COUNTRY IS MOURNING
Texans and the country is shocked at the horrific tragedy that has fallen upon us today, "When that school day ends there are families that are in mourning right now and the state of Texas is mourning with them for the reality that these parents are not going to be able to pick up their children," Abbott said in a statement.
