Tanya Tucker's return to mainstream form reached a new peak on Wednesday (Nov. 20), when she scored four 2020 Grammy Awards nominations. The nods are her first since 1993, and the most this year by any country artist (though Americana / roots artist Yola, one of The Boot's 2019 Artists to Watch, also earned four nods).

“I wish I had a trampoline to jump on right now! This is just unbelievable,” says Tucker in a press release. “I couldn’t have done this without the fans, [producers] Brandi [Carlile] and Shooter [Jennings], and the whole Tanya Tucker team. What’s different now more than ever is the fans on social media and streaming made this record an instant success. What just happened, I’d never, ever fathom."

Tucker's 2020 Grammy Awards nominations include Best Country Album, 2019’s While I’m Livin’, and Best Country Song, Best Country Solo Performance and the coveted. all-genre Song of the Year honor for “Bring My Flowers Now.” The next case of Tucker getting her flowers while she’s still living will come if she wins her first Grammy ever after upping her career nomination total to 14.

Tucker's first Grammys nomination came in 1972, for the hit song “Delta Dawn.” At the 15th annual Grammy Awards, the first and only ceremony hosted in Nashville, 14-year-old Tucker lost out when Donna Fargo took home the Best Country Vocal Performance, Female trophy, for “Happiest Girl in the Whole USA.”

Tucker's future Grammy Awards losses were also all in country-specific categories, aside from when her TNT album got nominated for the first-ever Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female trophy. That honor went to Donna Summer, for “Hot Stuff.”

The 2020 Grammy Awards are set for Jan. 26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. The event will air live on CBS, with Alicia Keys as host. Prior to the televised ceremony, a pre-telecast Premiere Ceremony takes place earlier in the day.
