Before they disappeared from downtown, Victoria’s crosswalk murals helped define the area’s character.

TxDOT has ordered Corpus Christi to remove 25 murals and art pieces, including decorated crosswalks, because they do not meet new “Safe Roads” standards.

In the desolate stretch of West Texas near Valentine, an unexpected sight greets travelers — a small, non-functional Prada storefront sitting alone in the desert. Prada Marfa, a permanent art installation created in 2005 by artists Elmgreen & Dragset, is a cultural landmark that offers a striking commentary on consumerism and luxury.
