Running out of ideas for the kids?

It's the dog days of summer and usually by this time I'm running out of ideas for activities for the kiddos. On a side note, one of the coolest things about being a grandma is that all of the DIY and cooler cheap things I did for my kids growing up are all NEW tricks for them. Old dog, new tricks.

Riverside Park

Hear me out, yes you already knew Riverside Park is awesome and you may have been a time or two so far this summer, even with the crazy rain and horrid heatwaves, but did you know you can rent things like disc golf supplies and kayaks now? Yep, a new company, Flow Paddle Co has made big waves for Riverside and the Guadalupe River. Which reminds me...

Pebble Beach

If you haven't been to Pebble Beach in a while, be prepared to have your mind BLOWN. It's been cleaned and renovated and perfect for an afternoon of free river water splashing with the kids. Which reminds me...

I can't explain it but enjoying food outdoors has always been something I have loved, so much so that we have an outdoor dining area of sorts at the ranch. On super hot days, you can just recreate it in an obscure place in the house, like a closet just to add interest. Nothing makes me happier than letting the kiddos help me prepare the picnic foods, especially when they choose it right out of the garden. Which reminds me...

Plant a garden

Seeds are inexpensive and you can pretty much plant a garden in anything. We have a large garden which during the summer is HELL to the O so we opt to care for our container gardens along the covered porch or we check out the Victoria Farmer's Market on Saturdays! Looking for a fast-growing outdoor summer plant? Try sunflowers!  Which reminds me...

Victoria Educational Gardens

Did you know we have an educational garden right at the Victoria Regional Airport? Yep, it's a great gem in our community that often gets overlooked and admission is free! It's great for a stroll and check out the great work that the Victoria Master Gardeners do to keep it up and fun for everyone. While you are there, check out the planes! Our airport is buzzing now. Which reminds me...

To tell you to stay tuned for more! We are just getting started on fun things to do with the kids for the remainder of the summer! Got an idea to share with us? Just let us know on our station apps! We will feature your idea in our next article about end summer activites!
